UVeye’s Data and Statistics on Tire Safety

Alerts rise from 1.3% for 0-1 year old tires to 10.3% at 5-6 years, then stabilize around 9-10%. Warnings increase sharply from 6.4% to 51.8% within 4-5 years, remaining above 50% thereafter. Significant tread wear issues start around 3-4 years and stay high as tires age.

Most tires are 0-5 years old, with 24% being 0-1 years and only 4.2% older than 7 years. For tread wear, 64.6% of tires pass, 30.3% are marginal, and 5.1% are worn out. Most tires are relatively new and in good condition, but a significant portion are nearing marginal tread wear levels.

This chart presents the average tire alerts and warnings per tire for the top 10 leading tire brands. Brand A has 0.18 alerts and 0.82 warnings per tire. Brand B follows with 0.21 alerts and 0.72 warnings. Brand C and D both have 0.19 and 0.20 alerts, with 0.61 warnings each. Brand E has 0.19 alerts and 0.59 warnings. Brands F and G show 0.19 and 0.12 alerts with 0.56 and 0.55 warnings, respectively. Finally, Brands I and J have 0.15 and 0.14 alerts, both with 0.51 warnings. Brand A shows the highest warning rate, while Brand G has the lowest alert rate.
